While he was doing his degree Hubby worked at the State Institute for Brewing in Finland for six months. To make the most of his time in the country he decided to learn a bit of Finnish. After having lessons for a while he thought he’d get some practice in. So off he went out to his local market to buy some fish for supper (this was in the days ( Read more... )

Hubby was describing the outbuildings, which include a row of pigsties and used the word cochonnerie.

Haha! "Cochonnerie" can also mean, when you say "faire des cochonneries", either doing things sloppily, or people having sex, depending on the context. So I can understand your friends' hilarity; ;)

He's also very good at sign language. When we were holidaying in Turkey we managed pretty much on hubby's mime skills as it was an out of the way resort and not many people outside our hotel spoke English.
