I respect what you've said and I think you have some good points, but I can't help but emphasize the fact that SIT is NOT all about drugs and alcohol. Our first and foremost priority is basically making high school less like high school for kids. That means giving them time outside of the typical high school environment with its pressures (at kNOw Limits) or raising the level of thinking at BHS to a higher status (with the Spring Assemblies ( ... )

Okay, keeping in mind I've had it explained about four times and still don't really "get" what SIT is all about, I'm gonna say something anyway.

"i think that in general people in high school are both old enough and mature enough to make their own decisions on drugs and alcohol.People, especially young people, are overly eager to do what "everyone else" does. In fact, this goes on further than high school, further than college, all the way into the truly adult world. Just look at cars and houses and gadgets and gizmos. Heck, there are entire empires dedicated to making adults "hip" (sharper image, for example). This is just more acute in high school because the things that "everyone else" are doing are not healthy things a lot of the time ( ... )

In response to Chris, i think you got the wrong impression on my reasons for not trying out. First of all i know that the SIT isnt all just about not drinking and doing drugs. I agree with and appreciate most of the things the SIT has to offer to the school such as know limits ( ... )

I am a member of the student impact team
i joined, honestly, because all my friends were doing it and i liked the asembly one is one too many. I had never been to Know Limits, and i didnt know that SIT did kids day. Since i have been on the team, ive felt it has been not what i expected and or wanted it to be. i have broken my contract twice, and i dont think of myself as a hypocrit because of it. i support your decision not to join, not because i agree with you in your reasoning, but because you are not joining it to have one more thing in your life, and you are not joining it like i did, because your friends werwe doing it and you had false ideas of what it would be like.
