lostsquee. I've never tried to write this pairing before and I have no idea if this works, but on the plus side it is mercifully short.
astra2104 - your fic is coming soon, honest. And I promise it will be way, way, way pornier than this one.
Jack sighs as he picks through the remaining medical supplies. They have so little to share between so many and most of what they do have left is past its expiry date. The thought of them running out altogether scares him more than he is willing to admit. Of all the problems that life on the island brings, keeping people well and healing them when they are sick is one of the few things that he can control and the thought of not being able to, fills him with dread.
A shadow falls across the bottles scattered in front of him and he looks up to find Sun looking down at him with concern in her eyes. Jack smiles, trying to chase the worry from her eyes but it does no good, when she crouches down to sit beside him, the worry is still there.
"I made you some tea. You look tired."
Jack takes the cup Sun offers him with a nod of thanks, raising it up to sniff at its contents before he drinks. It isn’t that he doubts her or the herbs she uses, he is just curious. He likes to see if he can identify the ingredients, learn from them, and from her.
"The plant it is made from is good for sharpening the mind. It is also good for chasing away headaches."
Sun reaches out and rubs the tips of her fingers lightly against his temples. Jack leans into her touch, closing his eyes and feeling the tension drain away. The sense of calm she radiates flows over him, grounds him - it is one of the things he loves most about her, the way she creates a solidity in his life that nothing on the island can chip away at. She has suffered as much hardship as any of them, lost as much as they have - maybe more - but she never complains and she never loses the silent strength or the will to survive that make her the woman that she is, the one he has come to rely on.
"Come watch the sunset with me, Jack."
He opens his eyes to find her smiling. Her eyes fixed on his, urging him to stop thinking about everyone else and take some time for himself. He leans forward and kisses her gently, saying thank you without words. The remains of the medicine will still be here once the sun has gone down and he knows in his heart that she can provide most of what they are missing. There is no need for him to worry, not with Sun here to help him.
Jack stands, waits for Sun to join him, takes her hand and lets her lead the way.
