Protecting someone and going overboard -- they'd probably call it assault.

My first thought was Alex, but I can see you going too far to protect Steve or someone else as well.

Oh, and when I put the question to Eric he was confused about who the 'you' was supposed to be and answered the question for himself.

Ah - see I assumed if she assaulted someone there would either be no witnesses and we'd be helping bury the body or there would be enough witnesses that the police wouldn't arrest her.

Actually, I would assume that you hadn't been arrested, but some terrible accident had occurred and the police were ferrying you away from it to hospital/home...
