Timed Decisions [open]

Marie had been pulled back in time. At least she'd assumed she was back. How often did the X-Mansion get snowed in this much? The future, some other future was playing in her mind. She couldn't handle if this was some other time or place. Not again. Everything had repercussions. She'd learned that when Pyro came through and then had it smacked in ( Read more... )

Erik spotted her as he walked a round of the outside of the mansion. Like her, he preferred the quiet solitude to think. And the snow made it even quieter.

Her presence, however, made him push all other thoughts aside for the time. She had returned from... wherever she had been. Was it bad that his first thought was to wonder if that meant Raven - his Raven - was back as well?

He didn't say anything, just drew alongside her. The last time they'd spoken, he couldn't abide her insolence and asked her to leave his office. He was waiting to gauge her attitude before he decided if it was worth his while to speak.

She remained quiet, pulling her knees to her chest. Marie had to slide farther back on the wall. When he stood next to her, she didn't acknowledge him at first, just staring out into the vast whiteness. In the far distance some trees could be seen, but it was just white.

A gloved hand just pushed a strand of hair back as she stared out. "Makes it seem like there ain't nobody out there." She finally said, mulling over their seclusion.

"There isn't," Erik said, sitting down. "At least, not in the imminent approaching with guns sort of way."

He, too, looked out into the snow. Looking directly at her was too much of an invitation. The last time he allowed her to be so familiar, she'd quickly become disrespectful.

"I'd be able to tell."

"I don't mean like that." She stopped to look at her breath and then back at the very far away trees.

She wasn't going to apologize. She'd felt attacked and Marie still didn't see how telling Ororo who was one of her mentors in her time was a bad thing. If he could be emotional, so could she.

But she wasn't going to argue. Not when everything seemed so changed since then. Not when the fate of either species could be turned so easily.

"It feels like it's just us and the whole world doesn't exist. Doesn't matter what happens if we're in our own little bubble." Or at least that's how it seemed.
