He sat quietly in the dimly lit kitchen, at the table, with a cup of tea. His soft voice sounded loud enough in the silence.

"I thought you were done with the glasses."

Betsy jumped at the sound of his voice. Her heart racing a little before she calmed down. She wanted to hit herself for being so edgey.

"Oh hi Eric...they're back for a different reason. I keep getting headaches and these things help a little...not to mention the bags under my eyes, right now, are huge." She offered a small smile and leaned against the bench.

She shook her head slowly and pushed off the bench, walking towards the fridge.

"They all have enough on their minds. I'm not going to bother them with my problems. I'm hoping they will fix themselves." She sighed softly and closed her eyes as she opened the fridge. The light from the fridge causing her to cringe. She quickly grabbed a soda and shut the door, sighing and gripping the bench.

Charles had been in his office for most of the day, but when the mood struck for some tea, he headed to the kitchen. He had only just started to fill the kettle with water when he sensed the worry woven into his friend's thoughts, and by the time Erik's words reached him, Charles was in the hallway, looking at him as he approached.

"What happened?"

"I don't know. She was complaining of a headache when she came into the kitchen. She just about collapsed before I could get her back to her room. She's there now. It might be her power. I'm not sure."

Erik's tone was clipped and business-like, but Charles would be able to sense his concern.

And sense he did. By placing a hand on Erik's shoulder, Charles guided him back towards the stairs.

"It could be something to do with her eyes." he replied.

Without having access to her mind, Charles was left just as clueless as the other man.
