I had a disturbing experience at work today.

I overheard a mention of neonatal (really young kid- <1 month in humans) testing, and my Special Friend Jason calls his puppy "neo-nate"*, so I listened to the conversation. Responding to disappeared comment, where others may be wondering:
Rats cannot consent, but that's not the point. Ordering up lives and then denying we don't need them, is. Saying "We'd like to buy a baby, go make one," then saying "oops, paperwork got screwed up. Kill it and make another in six weeks" should offend you on both ends. Not just the killing.
Hell, I feel guilty disinfecting things. I'm not cut out to be a research scientist.

just being gadflyistic... no ill intent meant from the previous comment... it just seemed to be a fairly natural extension of your professed aversion to the practice... and yes, consent is an important part of the... other issue... which is why it's not a simple question anyhow...
