What a cool post! Thanks for sharing :)

I agree, I probably wouldn't have stopped either. I wouldn't have let anyone take my photo either, like your mother did. What a sad world it has become.

Heh, Mother despised street photographers. (They were rather common in cities in the early/mid-20th century.) They could be real annoying, much like the "squeegee guys" who clean your car window without asking and then demand money in return. I can tell by Mom's expression here that she is not pleased one bit, so it's curious to me why she paid for the postcard. I'll wager she made that dress herself and fancied the way it looked in the picture. ;) Mother could be a tad vain sometimes. ^^

That's a great story, thank you for sharing.

I'm a bit surprised the parking lot is still a parking lot. I suppose something could have been built there and knocked down in the intervening years.

I wiuld have stopped, but then I'm English and we seem to talk more to people. Didn't mean to say Americans are rude.....I used to live in LA and my friends there told me I was far too trusting and friendly! I also rode buses everywhere and thought I was bonkers for that!! Anyway, the picture of your mum is wonderful. Perhaps when you have a spare moment, you could somehow modernise your mum, colour her and pop her into the modern photo to see how she'd look! Just an idea......
