Cape Mendocino

Cape Mendocino is the westernmost point of land in California. The road out there - appropriately named 'The Wildcat' - is one of my favorite drives. It's so out of the way and remote, tho, that I've made the drive only a handful of times. I love the pics! I graduated from Ferndale High, home of the Wildcats, so this was nice to see.

Wonderful. We are from "UPPER" Northern CA and go to the Mendocino Coast very often. This looked so familiar. I love this. Thanks for posting!

I think the removal of the power poles is a good improvement to the sceanery. I like the fog in the older one. You seem to be more safty concious then in the past as you are standing closer to the side of the road in the new one ;) Seems like the hills are a little greener now. As a photograph I agree with you in that the older one has more appeal. They both are great shots, one of the things I love so much about the west coast is the beauty of it all.

If nothing else it's simply nice to see a scene that, in overall essence, hasn't changed in all that time. Here in the LA area, change is daily! I can drive by places where I grew up and maybe one or two(at most, a very few) things remain of once was. Or, if something is still there, it suffers greatly for wear and tear ( ... )
