It occurred to me recently that our lives are defined by the patterns and routines which we fall in to through chance and circumstance, and that different periods of our lives are just routines getting modified, mutated, and sometimes destroyed. As we meet and associate with new people, new routines are created to dictate how we interact with them ( Read more... )

To a certain extent I agree with you(in regards to the first pargraph), however I cannot fully agree with you(I am also playing the devil's advocate here to a certain extent as well)

If our lives are defined by patterns, that what is reandom events within these patterns. Surely these events shape are being as well.
Example: A tramatic event happens in you life, which alters your patterns in life. Lets say this tramtic event is the death of a parent. This completly chanegs what you do on a day to day bases. So this one evnt, which will only happen once, and there for can not be a pattern, dictates waht your patterns will be. So what could derive from that statemnet, that singualr events control your pattersn. And if patterns define our life, and specific events control out patterns, then wouldn't specific events control our lives, and the defintion of out lives?

Yeahhh, I'm saying that the patterns originate from the random experiences somebody has (the bit about chance and circumstance), and that those experiences determine the routines that one starts to follow. So really we agree (I think).

I've been away too long and had to catch up on everything since december. my eyes are tired and my blood hurts, but it was all worth it considering the wisdom you imparted to me. i don't know what 9 of ten of the words you use mean, but i feel smarter just being at your page, billiam.
