yesterday i had the pleasure of reading "the fall" (front to back, b/c i managed to procrastinate). i started off hating it, but at the end i realized it really made me think a lot about myself
( Read more... )
i think its more a matter of whether or not youre doing things just to give the impression that youre a good, focused person, or whether youre doing them out of an overflow of love and inner joy.
becuase good works are, in essence, useless and futile. so unless theyre being done as by-products of your contentment, then theyre meaningless.
"all that is not born out of love is sin, and therefore useless" -the bible (hahah i dont know the verse. but its reminiscent of how you called the main character Bob. i think his name is jean-paul or something french like that)
i enjoyed the stranger but found everything in the fall to be so simplistic and absolute and, when looking at it with friends, found most of his reasoning to be innaccurate.
in all, he is boring. and the stranger bordered on boring. and The Fall was officially...BORING.
