It is clear to me that a decline into a party-going lifestyle is a very easy transformation. Interesting that I chose the word "decline," huh? I don't think that it is necessarily a bad lifestyle, though. I've met some wonderful people recently, heard some amazing music, and begun to feel like I'm developing a group of friends (that exists ( Read more... )

School or fun? Fun or school!?

I say definitely both. =)

Personally I found that drugs/alcohol helped me discover that I could be more social, more relaxed, more confident, whatever.

But then I found out that I could be those things without the accompanying substances. I think MJK once said something like that drugs show you where you can go, and then it's up to you to get there yourself, without their help.

(And he's the lead singer of Tool, so he's probably an authority on drugs. ;D)

Anyway, those similarities and great qualities are surely in those people somewhere, since it's part of their personality. They may not show it while sober, but I think they certainly could.

white people (ie: british and usa-ians) are mostly emotionally repressed. and aren't comfortable expressing themselves. which is why their culture(s) revolve around alcohol. when they get drunk, they feel at ease acting free of emotional restraints. essentially, they're pussies.

I don't have that problem. I'm me all the time. I've discovered this leaves me with the label "full on" and to be honest, I'd rather be full on than in a repressed state of denial at who I truly am.

but that's just me, and I'm a muslim, so I'm probably lying and planning to destroy your way of life. which would explain why you never responded to my last comment.

AH! I didn't see that comment! If you have minutes and stuff, you should definitely give me a call on Sunday or something, you sexy thing you.

I think that any social construct (religion, norms, etc) provides large-scale repression of some sort. Is it avoidable? I don't know, but I don't think so. Indeed, you don't seem to feel the need to repress yourself (from what I've seen), probably because you have a very strong, beautiful personal identity.

sunday... when on sunday? it's a big day.

I avoid it. maybe that's coz I'm a strong person. dunno about beautiful, I'd go for terrifying but whatever floats your boat.

I'd like to believe I'm a nice person, though. even if some of the people of this city are determined to paint me as a monster.
