I was looking through old LJ entries when I found this music survey from my freshman year of college...I thought it would be fun to re-work it. Current answers are in italics.

Wow. Opeth, if I had to pick only one... Jeez. Still a hard one to answer, but probably Porcupine Tree.

-why?
Their songs are simply celestial. They are brilliant musicians and lyricists. There is a song for every mood. Their songs evoke so much emotion in me! Layers and layers and layers of awesomeness. It's a very deep, sophisticated, beautiful sound.

-who is your least favourite band?
Godsmack That horrible, screechy female vocalist that Wendy and Missy love. I hope that none of you ever have to experience it.

-why?
Their music is painfully sub-mediocre AND YET THEY STILL HAVE FANS, A RECORD DEAL, AND PROFIT!!!!! WHY DON'T THEY DIE?!?! She sounds like a goddamn two-year old. The only thing worse than her natural voice is that one song where there are like, five of her.

-what is your favourite type of genre?
Romantic metal (note the capital 'R')/Prog rock. More on the prog rock end of things. But also indie and hip hop.

-what is your least favourite type of genre?
Country....hands down... (This is NOT the same as bluegrass!!) Woooooord.

-what is your favourite all-time cd?
Ugly Casanova's self-titled album Eluvium: When I Live by the Garden and the Sea

-what is in your cd player right now?
Type O Negative: October Rust...shut up! It's good! ;)Goth stuff is a guilty pleasure of mine! Ha! I remember that phase! I listened to Stinkfist by Tool, like, 20 times a day. Now, it's Mississippi John Hurt: Avalon Blues

-what was the first ever cd/cassette your bought?
James Taylor: Greatest Hits Yep.

-what was the last cd you bought?
Various Artists:Wig In A Box (Hedwig tribute) Beirut: Lon Gisland

-what cd is next on your list?
Various Artists: A Scandinavian Christmas Fruit Bats, Sigur Ros, Daedelus, Kero One...I don't know. It's not like I'll have the money anyway...

-do you download off the internet?
...And fuck up my computer like my sister did? I think not! Heh. Heh heh. Silly girl. Um...YES.

-what site do you download off?
n/a Limewire

-how many shows have you been to?
Roughly 25...local shows included. Hmmm...If I went to 25 at that time...I think nearly double that, actually.

-what have been your favourite shows?
Phish, the Misfits, Metallica (for sentimental reasons, though) Sigur-Ros/Amina, Opeth, Porcupine Tree (the second time)

-what has been your worst show?
Dashboard Confessionals....ugh...It made me both suicidal and homocidal... WOOOOOOOORD.

-what was the last show you went to?
Zerofest Mastodon/Priestess

-what is the next show you're going to?
A Perfect Circle the day before Thanksgiving RJD2 on March 10, some local shows, then GLUE in April!!!!!

-what is your favourite venue?
Tekworld...RIP Yep. There's nothing quite like an indoor outhouse.

-who has been the best live band you've seen?
Tool Tool or Sigur-Ros

-who has been the worst live band you've seen?
Tomahawk....same billing, interestingly enough... Yeah. They work so well on paper, but SUCKED SO HARD in real life.

-what bands would you like to see most, dead or alive?
OPETH!!! I'm pretty psyched for Glue!

-what festivals have you been to?
LRSFests (two of them...not sure which ones!),Zerofest, KrazyFest (pre-gimpiness), Summer Sanitarium Hmmm. I'm not sure those count as festivals, but I'll add Terrapin to that list. On a related note, talk of Bonnaroo is going down. There are some awesome artists, but it looks like I thought it might after MTV started sponsoring it. What a shame for me to have missed the last one.

-are you in a band?
No. No.

-what instruments can you play?
Piano, Bass, some guitar, some drums Former self, just b/c you can make notes on these instruments doesn't mean you can play them. I can't say I really play any instruments.

-who are your favourite singers?
In alphabetical order: Mikael Åkerfeldt, Issac Brock, Glenn Danzig, James Taylor JT for sure, also, Linda Perhas has a beautiful voice, Slug (if you can call it singing)....

-who is your fave guitarist?
Kirk Hammett This is going to provoke many an eye-roll, but Brian M. is my favorite to listen to. He's actually really fucking good.

-who is your fave bassist?
Cliff Burton I don't think that will ever change.

-who is your fave drummer?
Jean-Paul Gaster Not sure why I picked the guy from Clutch. (I had to LOOK up that name just now! That's how much I like Jean-Paul Gaster!) No disrespect to Gaster, he's good, but I'd probably go with Martin Lopez now.

I have to wake up early tomorrow, so I'd better get on gettin' on. OHHHHHHH WAAAAAAAIT. There's appearently some huge horrible music fest going on directly below me. It's like Moby meets Tori Amos. It's...it's awful. Bitch I cut u! Don't make me bust out my RANCID albums!!!! ALL YOUR BASE!!!!

It's okay, it gives me the chance to have more fun with music. Okay, I'm putting my top rated list on random to do the life soundtrack again.
Opening Credits: Daedelus: Adventress (Good one! The movie must be in a really grainy, old, b/w film stock.)
Waking Up: Band of Bees: One Glass of Water (I like it!)
First Day At School: Belle and Sebastian: Dress Up In You (Awww! Little kids in Catholic school uniforms and this song!)
Falling In Love: Caravan: Hello Hello (Quirky and a little demented.)
Fight Song: Glue: Mortiis: Fanget i Krystal (Wow. That would make an AWESOME fight scene song!)
Breaking Up: Air: Decemberists: Red Right Ankle (I swear, I didn't do that intentionally.)
Prom: Dengue Fever: Lost in Laos (HELL YEAH! I wish AHS prom was that cool!)
Life's Ok: Jeff Buckley: Hallelujah (Um, NO, life's NOT okay when this song is involved!)
Mental Breakdown: Mulatu Astatke and His Ethiopian Quintet: Yekerme Sew
Driving: Air: Run (Driving in FUCKING INSANE FOG like the other night is TOTALLY this song.)
Flashback: Neutral Milk Hotel: Song Against Sex (Wow.)
Getting Back Together: Cake: Sheep Go to Heaven
Birth of Child: Air: Modular Mix (Is it an alien???)
Wedding: Porcupine Tree: Half Light
Final Battle: Charles May and Annette May Thomas: Keep My Baby Warm (*gets on stereotypically black attitude*
Death Scene: Glue: Lullaby For The Sun (Wow. Again, I didn't fish for this one at all. That's AWESOME.)
Funeral Song: The Mountain Goats: No Children ("And I hope the rising black smoke carries me far away, and I never come back to this town!")
End Credits: Charlotte Gainsbourg: Songs That We Sing (PERFECT ENDING! Fin.)

Okay, time for sleep now, really.
