Nintendo Memories (SNES)

Unlike the NES, I do remember getting the SNES, vaguely. What I don't remember is the reason. Somehow, I can recall it was a Wednesday night. But it wasn't my birthday. And it wasn't near Christmas (I don't recall the store being particularly packed). It's hard to imagine I'd have gotten the SNES close after its launch... I'd have been pretty ( Read more... )

For me, Kirby's Dream Land 3 was one of those games that, for lack of a better explanation, felt lifeless. It was missing the undefinable spark of the ones before it. It's a lot like Donkey Kong Country 3 in that regard. Technically, all the pieces are there, but something didn't quite gel.

Earthworm Jim was an impossible game. At least, not without throwing your controller against the wall a few times. Great looking, awesome animation, memorable characters, solid humor... but man was it relentless.

Aw man, I can't believe you sold all of that stuff just for one game. I think the craziest my family ever got was when Star Fox was coming out, my brother decided to sell/trade-in some of our Super Nintendo games to get money for it (Pinball Dreams, Darius Twin, and some others).

I think any Kirby game after Kirby Superstar would look bad, haha.

My parents actually got me Mega Man X for Christmas, and put it out above the stockings. I remember having a lot of trouble with beating ANY Mega Man stages when I was young, so the day I finally defeated Storm Eagle felt great. I wanted to tell everyone, but we were going to Putt Putt so I just wrote down the password and thought about it the whole time we were there.

Sorry for rambling, but its great to hear about the SNES days.
