I live there, you can sleep on my floor if all else fails.
I work almost all of the time so I do not really know what all there is to do at night...I am not a big fan of clubs (and they are mega-expensive here anyway) and I am probably less of a fan of bars. I will try to think of awesome things for you two to do. Parks (specifically: Union Square, Washington Square, Tompkins Square, Bryant Square, Battery [Square] [Sea?], and Central) are really pretty awesome. Otherwise, just walk around. I will try to come up with better ideas.

Oh--and walk down Sixth or Seventh Avenue (whichever is the Fashion Ave. one) and see the fashion walk of fame

chelsea pier is a nice place to walk around. anywhere in chelsea is pretty cool, around 23rd st and 7th or 8th avenue.
theres a really cool bar/club called lit thats on 2nd ave i think, maybe 1st, around 10th street or south of that. usually theres no cover and they play great music. carlos d. from interpol sometimes djs there.
just spend a ton of time in central park, its amazing and you can spend sooo much time there.
the museums, williamsburg in brooklyn is nice to shop and eat, take the L toward brooklyn, get off at the first brooklyn stop which is bedford ave and get off, its all right there.
the lower east side is great, arlene's grocery is a great bar, ask erin where it is, WALK ACROSS THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE! thats the best, especially at sunset, if its warm enough.
you'll find a million things to do. you'll definitely want to check out times square since you've never been, but id suggest avoiding it as much as possible.
the upper east and west sides near the park are beautiful.

she is coming to stay with me, erin, so she'll be very familiar with the L.
dont worry sara...i actually live here and have before so we'll find plenty of things for you to do.
and ryan, shes 20 with no fake. so no lit, no bars. sorry.

lit isnt always 21+ anyway, and they hardly EVER card. ive been there with several underage people, like you. you did have an id, but ive been there with other underage people. i took a group of 5th graders there and they let them all in
