Filming in Washington Square Park

I didn't actually see anyone filming, nor were any actors present, so it wasn't totally exciting. But they were setting up a massive amount of lights, which I found interesting. They even had a huge illuminated hot air balloon, which I assume was going to be used to cast overhead light from a great distance, like moonlight.

The ballon thing is so neat. I wonder if it as blinding in person as it is in this picture. I would think not becaue what would be the point of having squinty eyed actors?

It's pretty damn bright, just like any big spotlight would be. The balloon itself is translucent off-white fabric, and then there's a giant halogen bulb suspended in the middle of it, so it looks like a huge frosted light bulb. It's on the ground in this picture, but like I said, it's a hot air balloon. So when they film, it's high up in the air, and it casts light downward. I doubt anyone would be looking straight at it.
