What on earth are your rates?!?!

Tonight my wife asked me about pilates in the US, and some other thing called gyrotonics. She wanted to try them in the US. The reasoning being she felt that pilates and gyrotonic in Japan were not the same as in the US. She had seen this with ballet in Japan.

some studios vary their pricing based on who the instructor is, but the instructors may not always be available. plus the whole health club weirdness in pricing ( ... )

Traditionally, Pilates was not a class, but a 'working out on a special machine' thing with a trainer. It may be the places you are finding are like that, hence the call us for rates.

I've found the group class prices around here to be similar to yoga ($10-$20, depending on the place and how many classes you are purchasing).

She could also probably find some US Pilates DVDs.

Any studio banks on their ability to give you the hard sell. They can't do that passively, you have to engage them first so they can con you into a membership.
