[ Time was an odd concept and one that often baffled Uhura. It always seemed like things were moving at a snails pace while she relayed transmissions and scanned subspace for messages on the bride of the ISS Enterprise, a place that she would need to get used to calling home. Yet, on the other hand, the whole incident that landed her on the bridge ( Read more... )

[It wasn't all that strange to be untrusted- especially not in this environment. In such a limited environment, it was almost inevitable. Secrest had to be more tightly guarded, and with that went the trust- at least everything beyond what was neccesary to function as a crew. And even then, it was somewhat questionable. There were enough assassinations to see to that. A certain amount of trust was desirable- much more beyond that was dangerous ( ... )

[ Of every individual on that ship, Spock was perhaps the only person their Captain trusted and Spock seemed content with following whatever order he through his way or task that needed to be carried out. But even Kirk’s so-called trust had its limits. She smirked to herself ever so slightly and kept her eyes on the door after it swooshed closed. ]

You should take that up with the Captain, then. Though he’ll probably deny it and then have you reprimand me.

[ She laughed lightly to herself, turning to face him now. ]

You know how difficult it is to get my agonizer.

[ Whether he would actually go as far as that wasn’t a question of trust but one of probability. She wasn’t the best at keeping herself inline and keeping those comments of hers within the line of proper conduct, but they had a history and Spock seemed to take that into consideration instead of punishing her within protocol. Or perhaps she just hadn’t pushed the right buttons yet. ]

[He knew well enough not to be surprised that that was the first possibility that she would think of. Shifting blame and assuming that all that he wanted was to inflict punishment on her for it.]

Had that been my intention, I would not be speaking to you.

[Finally, he turned to face her, reaching out without looking to press the button that stopped the lift. It was probably the only place where they wouldn't be watched- the kind of place where either of them could say anything without it coming back to haunt them later. He wasn't exactly certain what he might do with such brutal honesty- if it even came up. It wasn't all that likely.]

[ Sure she thought to herself, knowing that wasn’t entirely true. She couldn’t remember the last time he pulled rank and went over her head about some form of misconduct, but then again he was her superior office. Nothing about that was suspect, however, considering Spock was as logical as they come. Or so he let on.

But the lift was coming to a halt and she crossed her arms in front of her as she shot him a look, eyes unmoving from his impassive gaze. A staring contest of sorts that neither of them were going to win. ]

So now you’re conducting interrogations in turbolifts?
