the other day, i archived a story at ft (or maybe i refused to archive it? i don't recall) where the person said, "i wrote this for X fandom, but then i realized it would work soooo well for Y fandom so i'm reposting it here. you can guess which character is which!" and i almost replied with: "you are a mother fucking IDIOT and i think you should be banned from writing." but instead, i didn't and i just did the rest of the update.
man, you're so deep. chaucer, indeed. i think anybody who brings chaucer up in a post about fanfic should be laughed at heartily. call it quasiradiant's law.
(only 'cuz i've never read chaucer so you made me feel stupid! make it a paul auster reference, and i'm all over it.)
is definitely part of the reason why I have not pushed Ana and Rachel into a closet at 30 Rock and had them emerge about twenty minutes later all sticky and flushed. I read Ana's twitter every day and while it's a great way to suss out her personality (at least online) it's also a way for me to see that she is actively, y'know, a REAL PERSON and I get weird about the line between RPF and actually making real people make out.
I think there's a difference between the people who talk at you on the tv machine, and Ana who replies to your comments on twitter. Reading your comment below this, yes, I so want Melissa/Rachel, except Melissa has students on top of a blog that I read all the time. I can just imagine reading PRF about my profs and even with all my fannish knowledge, I never would be able to resist the temptation to read it allowed in class. (I did leave a Liz Lemon/Rachel prompt at the pornbattle, but no one wrote it, sadly.)
Waves hi back, come on over and hang out, no need to stalk :) We tend to be friendly if a bit verbose.
except I'm fairly positive she doesn't consider herself to be part of the fandom at large*
No, not yet. Actually, your timing on this is kind of prescient since I've been hanging out at fakenews_fanfic and kind of stalking bessemerprocess's LJ for any little tidbit of Rachel (waves: hi!) in the past month or so.
And I think you're about 80% correct on why I have not jumped in with sexy lesbian times. Admittedly, this is my own hangup, but I can't deal with boyslash. I mean I can read it and kind of objectively say whether the story is decent based on common rules of writing and what I know about the characters if I'm into the fandom, but I will never, ever like boyslash if you get my thing. Maybe this is some weird internalized homophobia that stems directly from the segregation in certain lbgt groups along gender lines

'but Ana talks to us and that makes it weird.'
