Bolly's ability to immediately obtain a stacked plate of sausage rolls at any gathering that offered them was unparalleled. His present for Sylvie, a large crocheted soft toy snake with button eyes, felt tongue, and a tickle-triggered animation charm that made it wriggle when you scratched its head, had taken him until basically the last second to finish, and he felt he deserved a reward.

"I love the gift!" Sylvie hugs him. "This is so cute!"

"Happy birthday!" He hugs her back as best he can without dropping his plate. "I think I've gotten better at making the stitches evenly sized. The mouth was the hardest part."

"It looks really good for a beginner. I hadn't tried anything like this," Sylvie told him.

Cade had planned the most classic, most picnic-y picnic possible. The aesthetic ideal of a picnic, with blankets and baskets and lawn games and tiny, handheld versions of food and a lot of different juices set up in many fun bottles and no alcohol. There's also a pile of presents, next to which is the birthday girl's birthday cake, which has her name on it.
He would probably really enjoy this party if he wasn't vigilantly trying to ensure it's perfect.

"This might be the best birthday party I've ever had!" She hugs him. "You're doing, I assume?"

"I helped with the outside things," so most of it, yes. He hugs her back and kisses the top of her head, "It was Jax's idea, and he made sure it was a surprise for you."

"Really?" She is actually surprised by that. "That was nice of him. I still think he's under some kind of dark, magical influence but I'm choosing to enjoy it rather than ruin it."

For show, there was a box of Scottish sweets-tablet, tea cakes, shortbread, Edinburgh rock, macaroon bars and so on-in the pile of presents for Sylvie to open. Aubrey was carrying her actual present, which required an explanation not for public ears, in a small box in his pocket. They’d been blessed with a really nice day so, instead of making any actual effort to complete his task, Aubrey took up a handy blanket corner and sprawled out to get some sun.

Sylvie sits down next to him she's holding Bolly's present. "Look what Bolly made for me! Isn't it cute?"

Aubrey cracks open an eye and then both to look properly. “Huh. Fuzzy snake.” He reaches out to touch it and accidentally triggers the animation charm, so a wriggle goes down the whole length. “…okay, that is actually pretty cool.”

Sylvie giggles, "He's a really creative kid."

Jax was pretending to focus on his food, but was mostly watching Sylvie. She looked happy and that made him smile. It was a nice day so he was going to enjoy himself. He might even socialize a little today. Maybe.

He put the gifts on the table. A purple and gold scratching post from him, an advanced Transfiguration book from Arthur and a book on musical theory from Aimee. Jax has another gift for Sylvie in his pocket.

"I heard you had something to do with all of this," Sylvie said. She kicked him lightly

Jax shrugs, "I helped a little."

"So it wasn't your idea?"

Alfie set himself up on a blanket with a plate of food. He brought his guitar with him. He hasn't really played it in a while and he's been in a mood for it lately. It's out of tune though so he's trying to tune it while snacking and enjoying the weather.

Sylvie sits down across from him. She wraps her arms around her legs and props her head on her knees. "Play something," she said

"Give me a minute," he said. Once he was done tuning he started strumming, playing Happy Birthday.
