[042] "What's in the box?" David Mills, Se7en
What's in the Box?
It's not really a box, it's a hermetically sealed case. Self-Insulated. Self Contained. It's all in his manual. Today it's a heart, tomorrow it's a pair of human eyes (designer, thank you very much), tomorrow it's a string of long intestines spotted with decay.
Eating certain foods is really bad for your health. (And against company policy)
It's all in the manual, this box. It's a marvel of human engineering. Press the buttons, turn the temperature up, turn it down, set a timer, set an alarm. And then there's his kit-knives and silver instruments so very sharp.
People who use guns are ignorant. Knives don't damage, you know where and when and how and you can cut completely clean. Minimize splatter and damage. There's also a towel in the box, santizer, zydrate.
(Just because it's illegal, don't think it's not used.)
For the children, the old, the elderly, the infirm. The beautiful, the hideously ugly. He kills clean, everything neat and tidy.
"What's in the Box Dad?"
Nathan Wallace thinks he must be tired, getting stupid enough to carry that around-in the open for chrissakes! Where Shilo could see!
He sets it aside. Death. The lost dreams of thousands of people. Weddings that will never happen, births that will never take place. birthdays that will never be celebrated, pictures that will never be taken. Songs that will never be listened to, movies that will never be seen, words that will never be typed, hugs that will never take place. Kisses people won't recieve, sex that won't pleasure, tears that won't fall.
"Stuff I'm moving down to the basement." He hefts the box, "...You finish your homework?"
She nods, he smiles and moves away.
