After looking over the 10th edition Ultimate Rules for the 3rd time, I decided it was finally time for bed. Opting for another, less itchy night shirt, I leaned out of bed into my dresser to get another one. Just then, my whole bedroom learched and with a soft groan, resettled. WHOA. I remember the Nisqually one in..what, 2001? 7th floor of Mehling when that happened...earthquakes really are something else, aren't they? Nerve-wracking, but also...pretty cool, once we're back on solid ground. Mother nature asserts herself, yet again, and the living earth moves beneath us.

So I think I was wrong. We are on some fault named the Cascade something or other and it seems like the epicenter of this quake was in Battle Ground. Apparently it was short and felt like an explosion more than some long tremor because the rock beneath our area is hard. It was a definite wake-up!

Yeah, I live in the SFO area and didn't even feel that 4.4 earthquake...

Is a good resource for up-to-date EQ information... the NW is not as seismologically active, but small earthquakes happen here every day.
