There is snow on the roof, and ice in the heart of all men. Apparently today is officially the most depressing day of the year, according to some good-for-nothing lecturer from Slagheap University in the very bowels of South Wales, where the churches collapse overnight and all the livestock suffer from ennui. He should know. Ironically, I'm fairly ( Read more... )

I'd say my old school ipod is smaller than say, a Cruskit, or a Salada, but perhaps we have rather large biscuits down here.

A Cruskit! A Salada! What the devil are they?

They are... biscuits! Quite large biscuits. Saladas are your regular sort of biscuit, except they're a square snappable into two or four pieces (man size, snack size and bite size apparently), but cruskits are made of corn (I think) and have the oddest texture... like a flat crunchy sponge.

Yeah, I might get a bit of Johnny Cash. And The Who are pretty good, I've got a 3-CD thing of theirs that someone copied for me lying around somewhere.

Some good stuff there! Tammy Wynette is an inspired choice. I'll have to deduct points for Razorlight though.

I've never heard any ELO. I was pondering this the other day.

I can send you a couple of tracks if you would like.

Also I should point out that there are a few comfort albums on there for in case I got scared of all the newer music and felt acoustically homeless. Manics and Clash are my comfort blanket generally ;)

Yeah please, that'd be lovely! I was going to try and download some last night but Soulseek was playing silly beggars for some reason.

Oh, the Manics are (were?) great. I still dig 'em out occasionally. Not listened to The Clash in ages.

Hmm. What sort of music do you like?

I wouldn't say Helen Mirren was a toothless crone. I'm rooting for Winslet, but I saw The Queen twice and thought Mirren did a damn fine job with a rather clunky script. Although I know someone who works at the Palace and she says the word amongst the footmen is that 'it's a good job she was a Dame already, 'cos she sure as hell wouldn't be made one now.' (Which I thought was odd, because it's a pretty human/sympathetic portrayal *shrugs*)

Oh, I'll lend an ear to anything once. Unless it's something hideous like "white soul", or the latest Young British Indie Band that was indistinguishable from the last one.

Ah, you're not one of these that thinks she's dead elegant, are you? She's knocking on a bit now. I wouldn't mind seeing it, I think the Royals are quite funny. And if it's anti-Diana I'll probably like it.

Well I think she's a very talented actress and I wince at the use of the word 'crone' to describe any woman, but it's your journal so fair enough.. 'The Queen' actually has some pretty funny moments, I like it when they're having a barbecue and Philip can't get it to light.

As for music tips, I have a lot of time for these little pixies:

I know...terrible, ain't it? Tsh! Men.

I think I'll probably wait for it to emerge on DVD before I watch it. Don't want to betray republican tendencies too much.

They're quite fun! Bit of a pastiche, possibly, but I liked 'em.
