So I watched the Superbowl the other night. Jaysus, that was one of the most interminable things I've ever seen. It was all stop-start, stop-start, stop-start - everything happening in ten second bursts before someone got hurt, or went were they weren't supposed to go, or let it slip through their fingers. It was like watching two teenagers on Prom ( Read more... )

I'm going to hazard a guess that you haven't seen many American football games. They're pretty much all like that. They have four chances to move ten yards down the field, so getting three or four yards at a time is a good thing. Gains of more than a yard don't happen too often.

Eli Manning is the quarterback for the Giants. One interesting thing about him is he is Peyton Manning's younger brother, Peyton being the quarterback for the Indianopolis Colts, last year's Superbowl winners.

Ugh. That last sentence was horribly done. My apologies. Also, I missed Tom Petty. I was out getting food and beer.

I'm definitely a sports fan but for me the best part of the Superbowl is watching the (endless) commercials. It's something like $2.3 million per ad and the various companies try to out-do each other and make them memorable.

Talk about funny names - the guy who made the winning catch for the Giants is called Plexico Burress! Plexico?!

I watched the Superbowl with my housemates in the first year of uni, and nearly died of boredom. The only thing that saved me was more and more beer. Apparently, probably because of the beer, there are more domestic violence incidents on Superbowl night in the US than at any other time. Scary!

Also, really, really dull as a game. Give me rugby any time.
