Exciting news! Kosovo declared itself as independent from Serbia yesterday, which officially makes it the newest nation state in the world. Some countries will formally recognise it as such this week, certain quarters will refuse to do so - namely Serbia and Russia. Kosovo's a can of worms if nothing else. But for the moment, it is its own country

I think a list of the best and worst flags may be needed.

Oh yes. Go for it! We have a load of flags in our school canteen and there are some decidedly dodgy ones about...

Ooh, that would be an interesting list! I've always loved the sweet little Swiss flag and I'm kinda partial to the bear crawling across the California flag.

Worst flag? Papua New Guinea.

There's some amazing flags out there. I quite like the colours on that one, but what the bejesus is that yellow thing? I reckon it's the headscarf of some Huli chieftain flying through the air as his skull is cleaved open by a white colonist.

Hahaha! Sort of looks like a smooshed moth? That, um, happened to be wearing a coat with tails? For some reason, I really dislike flags with a diagonal split. Plus, black and red is my least favorite color combination. It's so evil and checker-ish.

Yeah, I can't think of any good ones with a diagonal split! (or a "bend" if you want to sound technical). They're all pretty dull.

I have lots! I'll have a hard time making a list. But all will be revealed...watch this space!
