Sooo.

[Zeke found the note! he doesn't know what to think quite yet.]

As interesting as this sudden world hoppin' thing is I... kinda don't exactly like what this note has t'say.

Just... just curious. Which world is this talkin' about? 'Cause I've spent th'last seven or so months in another world that I was suddenly dragged to and, y'know ( Read more... )

Which world it is doesn't really matter there, does it. The fact is that there is a world and, by extension, things exist. Why fritter away the rest of your day with the details?

And precisely why you will prematurely grey, no doubt. I've not a care to such details and do challenge you to see a single grey hair about me.

Actually, premature balding is more common in my family. So when my hair starts fallin' out, I'll let ya know.

Stress about the little things can cause it to fall out too, you know. Or, in particularly trying cases, it can cause one to rip it out. I quite fondly recall inspiring a magician to do just that - he was bald within an hour of my summoning!

I can assure you I'm not gonna be rippin' my hair out anytime soon.

And magicians, eh? That's a word I haven't heard in a while.

Curiously, that is exactly what he said.

Is it? It's a word that I hear all too frequently. And see, for that matter.

Aw jeez, that's unfortunate. I've been away from home awhile now and haven't had t'deal with any in ages. Course, I didn't have much t'do with 'em back home, anyway.

There any magicians here? And if so, they a pompous ass?

There are a handful of mages - a commonplace attempt to rebrand one's self, but a rose by any other name still has that thorny backside.

How refreshing to hear your expectation of them! I see that you are a man of good taste or standard experience. Though, it's a folly to suggest a magician could be anything but pompous. (The young lad of my recent acquaintance being a potential exception, but his are extenuating circumstances.)

You are familiar with the unfortunate lot of arrogance, so I must query: Have you served them or simply been subject to their flatulence?

Welp, m'dad was one. So I met alotta his acquaintances growin' up. And then they're a bit hard t'ignore when they're the main government in your city-state.

They saying goes that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, you know.

That's what they say. But y'know, my dad wasn't that bad of a guy. He was a bit of th'underdog back in the workplace.

And I'm not even close t'magician material. My mom isn't a blue blood, I've got Esach's disease, and I've got a criminal record. Not exactly what they want. Besides, cooking is a heck of a lot more enjoyable than politics.

Magicians are, by large, all bad. Terrible influences on all things, especially children. The underdogs are the worst, for they'll do anything to get ahead.

Still, if you know your father, then I suppose that absolves you. Knowledge of one's parents is a key ignorance they hold.

That power of understatement you possess surely complements your attention to detail.

"Alotta" is not the half of it.
