Stretching, Theo woke with a yawn and glared at the sun that beamed in her window, she'd forgotten to close the drape the night before. Then getting up, she checked on Leo who was still sleeping and went though the process of getting dressed.
She at least didn't have anyone knocking on her door any longer. The first dozen times someone had woken Leo up just after she'd gotten the brat to sleep had taught them a lesson. They'd spend a couple of days in the hospitality suite. No one could say being a mother had softened her personality any.
After she finished getting dressed, she opened her door, got someone to get her some breakfast and then picked up Leo carefully and went to her office. Her hours had changed over the past month, needing to be up when the baby wanted to be fed. Placing him in the makeshift cradle, she sat down at her desk and did the morning paperwork, even though she hated it, and at her breakfast at the same time.
After she had taken care of Leo, fielded a call from The Mountain over the radio and finished the paperwork; she decided to go out and patrol her town. Baby on one shoulder, gun on the other hip, she went for her daily walk. Never taking the same way two days in a row so she couldn't be predictable. Ever since the attempt on her life and Smith's, she didn't trust the town.
After about three hours of checking the town over, she stopped off at one of the local bars and had some dinner, watching as some of the towns people cooed over the baby. Of course, get in good with the leader if the kid likes you.
If there were any diplomacy problems, she handed the kid over to one of the few people she trusted and headed to the hospitality suite to take of it. And if someone came out of there in one piece, they were lucky. Of course, it all depended on the extent of their crime. But if it needed her special attention, then usually it was really extreme.
She never stayed up as late as she used to any more, going to bed a few hours after sunset, when Leo did. Only because she'd have to be up with him again in a couple of hours to feed him.
Her day may not be exciting, but that was it was now. Caring for her son and her town, the two things that meant the most to her.
