OMG topical rant
My friends and friends' friends suck.
Finally managed to fall asleep at 11am for the first time since yesterday, then when I get up at 6 I had my roommate giving me shit about 'sleeping in/second time'. DAMNIT I didn't sleep the first time. *grumble*
Then I find out his friend is going over soon and before I even finish munching a little food he's here and they expect me to run something. He wants to move things along.
GODDAMNIT. I've been trying to get to the fucking finish of this arc for half a fucking year now, and we're so fucking close. He and the other guy who hasn't shown in even longer are so used to episodic adventures that getting them through anything open ended is a dead fucking drag, all the while complaining about nothing to do in a CITY AND COUNTY UNDER SIEGE BY A COUP SUPPORTED BY HALF THE MAJOR ENEMY FORCES IN THE WORLD AND UNKNOWN FACTORS. >.< And when one finally starts investigating things he then switches to a different game then doesn't show up anymore, and when the other finally investigates he does it solo- leaving other character without even telling them what he's doing. Investigating thing another character has been trying to get them to do almost the whole time as if it's a new idea he just had, and manages to run through every enemy encampment MARKED ON THE FUCKING MAP when escaping things and manages to misinterpret most of the info he finds.
So yeah, he shows up and they expect me to just crap out an adventure, and if none is forth coming things suck and it's officially my fault. No one else runs anything, even when I point out the he STARTED TO RUN SOMETHING LAST TIME HE WAS HERE THAT OPENED WITH HIS CHARACTERLDLSFKDSLFJLSDGJKLSDGJLKSDF Caps is cruise control for cool. u.u *breathes* Last time he was here he started to run something that opened up with his character finding something that they should have been able to find and going back to the sanctuary we were hiding civilians and families in THAT WE'VE BEEN AVOIDING ENTIRELY SO WE WOULDN'T LEAD ANYONE BACK, thus leading his supervillian there who then chopped up every person on that floor of the church in an instant, and disappeared again. *twitch* Fucking shared worlds where other people have no sense of scale or common sense.
So yeah, I didn't run anything, as my roommate should have remembered I'm burned the fuck out on this bullshit. Then they left to hang out elsewhere, because I'm not cool enough to hang out with if I'm not running anything.
I have two, maybe three, big scenes left on this arc that I just need the players to show up for so we can move on. I'm tired of running the stupid scenes where he bumbles the fuck out of investigating and/or hits on the female characters.
I don't curse much but ARRGH. This aggravates me. Makes me appreciate my other players more, though I'm worn down regarding them too. I'm just tired in general at this point, glad text-based has returned to me, otherwise I'd mainly have the job search and spinning my wheels.
On a positive note, looks like the hiring slump is backing off, starting to hear back from places. Yay.
