Global Warming and Related Stuff

I thought this was a very interesting document. Even back in 1996, the the energy industry believed that global warming had a human cause, but decided to protect profits instead.

On a related note, we've been working on ways to make our new home more environmentally friendly, but there's a ways to go. )

. . . I never thought I'd say this but... you and my dad have something in common on that. At least functionally.

My dad has dozens of websites bookmarked and catalogs he gets about becoming energy self-sufficient or off the grid, etc. I'm moderately sure I've seen solar panels and water heaters in his catalogs that are good quality at reasonable prices (or they were a few years ago when I looked).

I'll grab one of them next time I'm over there. I've been wondering about the plausibility of having a solar array on our house (granted we're renting) ever since Gainesville Regional Utilities gave us a rate hike last October on gas, AND elec.

Well, energy efficiency is good for both environmentalists and isolationists! Hehe.

As far as I can tell, solar panels are damned expensive around here, but if you have a source for cheaper Florida solar power, I'd be interested.

Not all low flow showerheads are created equal. The use to be 2.5 gpm, but the latest are as low as 1.5 gpm. I've tried several...some good and some bad. My favorite is one I bought on e-bay from HighSierra. It feels great, has good force, and has lowered my water usage by about 200 gallons in the first month.
