I went to a restaurant in NYC when my family was going through it's vegan stage, and ordered sauteed beef. . .which was made completely out of tofu. The sauce was completely the same, as with the rest of the dish. The only difference was the texture of the meat/tofu.
My dad ordered lobster. Tofu lobster. Don't even ask. It was scary.
I'd never heard of seitan. It looks a bit weird - I think I'll stick to dead animals...

Tempeh is a lot less freaky. You should slice it thin and pan fry it with some garlic. Yummity.
