The leader spoke with me tonight and told me that he read the entire thing that night and thanked me, and said he learned a lot. :-)
He asked me if it was OK to allow the other adult leaders to see it so they can be aware of it especially during summer camp. I thought it was a good idea, and I was actually going to suggest it.
It's a good letter. I don't know if he'll read it all, though.
Perhaps something shorter and to the point "Conal sees the world differently because he has Asperger's Syndrome. Other children notice the differences and can be very cruel. As the responsible adult for this group, please take this as an opportunity to share with the kids how the world would be a boring place if everyone were the same and please keep an eye out for bullying. Let me know if you'd like more information on AS. Thanks!"
That was just a portion of the information I gave him. It was about 4-5 pages long. He read the entire thing and thanked me, said he learned a lot. YAY!
Honestly, I know. The boys in question have an absent father as far as I know, their mom never talks about a dad or hubby, and I've never seen one at family functions. She's pretty good about it though, she grounded her son after I let her know he was punching Conal. I'm not sure how much of an effect it had though. *scowl*

Hopefully the information you gave the leader will help him to involve Conal more, and hopefully he'll keep an eye on the bullies too.

I don't have any clever advice, but I think what you've done can only help. BIG HUGS.
