Occasionally, things happen right.

I have an investment account. The first time I took a check from that account and deposited it in my checking account (at a different institution), the young man by the front door told me there would be a 10-day hold on the check. I was made a bit unhappy by that, as I needed to write a check using that money a few days later. He shrugged and told me to check with the teller.

I went to the window, deposited the check, and exited the bank smiling. The young man stopped me.

"How long is the hold? Ten days?"
"No, it clears tomorrow."

He looked confused. "How long have you had an account with us?"
"Forty years."
"Ah."

My mother worked for the bank for thirty years and opened my account when I was seven years old. :>

I'm hoping that he learned not to greet customers with unpleasant news that might not even be true!

this happened to me in October , but my bank kept it on hold 2 FULL weeks!!!
I wouldn't have used the money if I hadn't needed it immediately, and my mom and dad were some of the very first depositors in this institution, because a friend of the family helped start it!!
