Sara Ramirez: Ivy Lynn
Show: Smash
I chose Sara Ramirez to replace Megan Hilty on Smash as Ivy Lynn because it is a musical show. Sara is an excellent singer, so it would be awesome for her to be on a show where she would be able to use all of her talents. Since Smash is about the making of a Broadway show, Sara also has that in common since she has been on Broadway before. Both actresses are very pretty as well, which is why I think Sara fits this character better than others on the show. I think Callie and Ivy also have in common that they both want to be taken more seriously in their professions. They are both hard working, but always seem to be second to other people.
Chandra Wilson: Sue Sylvester
Show: Glee
I thought Chandra Wilson would make an interesting Sue Sylvester because Sue and Bailey have some commonalities and Glee is a musical show. Bailey and Sue are both tough characters and can be intimidating and scary to others. However, they both can be really funny and snarky, which makes them good characters. I also think Chandra Wilson would be a good cast member for Glee because she has done Broadway and other theater before. Sue is not a character who gets to sing a lot on Glee, but she has a couple of times. It would be interesting if she had been cast with a more formal singer if she would have gotten more songs.
Katherine Heigl: Caroline Channing
Show: 2 Broke Girls
I chose Katherine Heigl to play Caroline on 2 Broke Girls because I think Caroline and Izzie have some things in common. Both characters were rich at some point that we know of. Izzie had inherited the money from Denny and Caroline was rich until her father got sent to jail. Of course, Izzie didn't have the money for too long, making her not rich for long. But, she did grow up poor, and that is something Caroline has to learn to deal with now that she does not have her father's money anymore. Both Izzie and Caroline have cheery personalities as well. Caroline tries to stay positive about starting her cupcake business and Izzie is just usually positive about life. They both also really like the Christmas holidays.
Jessica Capshaw: Rachel Green
Show:Friends
This casting was a little hard for me to think of big reasons for. I came to Jessica Capshaw playing Rachel because I could picture it in my mind. I think she could pull off the acting required for the role. Friends is a comedy series, but Rachel has certainly had enough drama in her life. I think Jessica would also bring some cuteness to the role because she just has that look about her. I also thought Arizona and Rachel had the baby thing in common. While Arizona did not have Sofia herself, she had to decide if she was in or not to being her mother, where Rachel unexpectedly got pregnant with Emma.
T.R. Knight: Ted Mosby
Show: How I Met Your Mother
I chose T.R. Knight to play Ted on “How I Met Your Mother” because George and Ted both have a sort of dorky, cute look going on. Both of them are modest characters just trying to be good people. Both of them have ended up with a lot of women. Some more appropriate than others. I think both George and Ted are agreeable characters. They might be against or skeptical about things at first, but they usually end up going along with the flow. Both George and Ted had an interesting experience when trying to meet girls too. George's was with Callie and Ted's was when he was trying to look for a girl from Halloween.
Eric Dane: Barney Stinson
Show: How I Met Your Mother
This recasting was very easy. I'm convinced that Eric Dane's Mark and Neil Patrick Harris' Barney are related. It could be possible as Mark was from New York originally, and “How I Met Your Mother” takes place there. Both characters are womanizers and are sort of jerks at times. Mark does seem to be better with getting women usually, but he did have the nurses turn against him once. Interestingly, when they are in long term relationships such as Mark with Lexie and Barney with Robin, they kind of lose their man-whore tendencies. While they also come off like jerks to people many times, they can be good to their friends.
