I'm sorry for your loss. It may be 'just a pet' but it's always hard. It's better to have friends and pets around and be hurt, than it is to be alone.

I feel a lot of sympathy too; when Jeannine and I lost Sweetpea a month before the hurricane, the void left behind was pretty numbing. We still haven't gotten to the point where we could get another cat...
