people, sometimes the kind thing to do for your family member is to make them comfortable and let them die, NOT to keep us shoving tubes in every hole, and making new holes to shove even more tubes in, and counter each medication's side effects with new medication. let. them. go. it's the nice thing to do!

it started really going downhill at aorund 3am when the son said "if this was your mother..." and i replied "let's be very clear. this would never be my mother". this poor woman! it really makes me angry.

Oh I hated that. I had many, many conversations as a surgery intern that started that way and ended with "If this was my mother, we would have stopped a long, long time ago, and yes my mother and I have had this conversation".

I think end of life care is often more humane for our pets than it is for our family members. It makes me irate.

Living wills should be as commonplace as life insurance and regular wills.

our fear of death is truly frightening. oh, and that we don't extend to other human beings the amount of compassion we give to our animals. some people should die; that's just unconscious knowledge.

people wonder why health costs are so out of control. BECAUSE YOU'RE TAKING AN 89-YEAR-OLD MULTIPLE AMPUTEE WITH 2 PAST TRIPLE BYPASSES TO DIALYSIS 4 TIMES A WEEK.
