Thanks for the advice, I'll definately keep myself motivated in whatever way I can :) And yeah, Uni really did fill me up with expectations, it sure makes my head hurt now trying to get my head around them all XD
Aw thank you! Indeed I never thought about how a degree can be helpful in getting normal jobs!
No worries about flexibility, I'm pretty good at exapanding out to different styles, generally when I say I don't want to change my style I mean more about the fcat I just can't do very pretty/stylized work, I prefer to do art driven by themes/ideas/clarity rather then how nice it looks, thats the only thing I always have trouble with! I think maybe though I'll try find more balance between the two sides of it!
Incredibly late, but I'd still like to comment. I read in a comment above that it's still a few months until you'll graduate, but, if I may ask, do you have any plans what you will do afterwards?
Well, my current plan is to get a normal stable job so that I have enough money to live in my current house/eat :P Other then that, I don't have any big plans. But I wouldn't say I'm unproductive, although I don't think I'll be actively seeking illustration work in the near future, I'm not going to stop doing graphic novels in my spare time. I have my current comic to finish and another idea lined up for after that, and a few short story ideas for the few competitions that go on in the year. And on top of that I like exploring other fun ideas like paper toys, shadow puppets, storytelling :)
I'm curious about what you've been drawing for Uni! I wanna see your aaaarrttss!!
Is there a way to improve and try the final project part again? I'm not sure how this result system works.. what does a 3 mean? what does a 2:1 mean?
Well.. People who love drawing are of course born to do it. Don't let school put a damper on your love for art. Okay? I don't use my art to pay my rent in any way but that doesn't mean I don't spend at least some time every day drawing.
Haha I'm not proud of any of it, would rather not post it anywhere XDD To give you an idea though, non of my final work were just images, I did a whole 'box' type thing with cut out 2D images of characters and scenery, with lighting through the bottom to create shadows within the box.
As far as I know I cant redo the final part, and I dont really want to go through it all again either, I think I'd feel like I'm going backwards! But it's ok, I know excatly where I need to improve and I'm working on a bazillion ideas in my spare time! In terms of marks, 1 is the highest and 3:3 lowest, so you can see where I came in if I was a 2:1 and a 3 :)
Thank you! My spirits certainly arent dampened but I think actually just more burning then ever!
Also on another note, I'm sorry I havent been commenting on your comic or LJ posts, I've very much been in a 'too busy to write; mood, and also I've been holding off reading TM recent updates since I'm ploughing through the CD you gave me at the moment ^^
