Flash Fiction Fridays!

I entered a flash fiction contest recently, and lost.  I think part of why I lost was that I don't really have a strong feel for flash fiction, the same way that I feel like I understand how a regular short story or novel is supposed to be structured.  So, how do we get better? PRACTICE
