Harriet Tubman: Can't "Catch" This

May 20, 2012 20:49

So for American History we had to write/rewrite a song about something from the civil war and my group is doing Harriet Tubman and we're doing the song "U Can't touch this" but changing the lyrics a bit...

Here are the lyrics:
* = pause

Can't catch this(4x)

Born in 18*20
Lived to the age of 93
"Thank you* for saving me"
Said all the slave that she helped free.

Went back* at least 19 times
Saved so many* slaves live
She worked* in a cotton patch
And this is the slave that you can't catch

Refrain

Couldn't read *or write
Got hit in the head when she was a tyke
She ran* out of town
Luckily she didn't drown
Cook, nurse,* spy, scout,
Wanted her when she got out
Ran fast,* Ran fast
Harriet Tubman's hard to snatch
And this is the slave that you can't catch.

Refrain

Was freed in 18*50
Adopted a girl and named her Gertie
Got out,* Got out
Ran fast and got out of the south
Her last words* were true
"I go to prepare a place for you."
Her legend *lives on
Even though now that she's gone
This is the one you couldn't snatch
And this is the slave that you cant catch

Refrain

And then we ended it there because the songs like 5 mins long.
Some other song were Funkytown but it was: Won't you take me to Gettysburg.
"We will we will kill you"
Another Harriet Tubman was "Wanted dead or Alive"
And many many more!!

sleep(and lack thereof), party time!, crazy woman
