In like this; I think you kept everyone quite in-character. In fact, I thought you were doing a call-back to the second movie: Fourteenth Target when you were talking about Eri's cooking skills. It's established in the movie that Eri can't cook even though she thinks she's better than she is. Also, Kogoro reacts to the cooking in the movie about exactly the way he does in your fic ( ... )

First off, thank you, thank you, thank you so much for this well-thought out review! It's been ages since I last received a review like this!

Ah yes, I know all about Movie 2; I, however, don't consider it "technically" canon, as I am of the belief that only the events occurring in the manga can be considered as such, since the movies reference the manga, but not vice-versa, that is, until the case on Eri's birthday. I have to admit, when I read the part about Kogoro insulting her cooking, I found myself thinking, "So does this mean Eri's terrible cooking is canon?"

That sort of confused me, because back in Eri's Secret/The Love of Lawyer Kisaki Eri case, Eri intends to bring Kogoro dinner in the hopes of reconciling with him. (For the life of me, though, I can't understand why she never pushed through with the idea! Stubborn Eri . . .) Now, unless she is really that deluded that she can cook well, it seems rather absurd that she would bring him dinner, since it can be a potential cause for an arugument-the last thing she wants to ( ... )

Ah, another Eri-centric fic from you. I'm so happy someone writes them, she's such an amazing character. To be honest, over the years I've definitely fallen off the Conan train in every respect EXCEPT the Eri/Kogoro relationship.

I thought this was very sweet, and sadly, considering his idiocy, I totally CAN see this situation playing out. I have to admit it, I really wished that Kogoro HAD come in and redeemed himself. It probably would have taken away from what you were doing, but there is precious little Eri/Kogoro fic in the fandom that I am frankly desperate for it. Plus I think in his younger years (college-young cop years), beneath all his bluster, he was a pretty romantic guy. In his Kogoro-ish way.

Will Aoyama ever get them back together, really? We can only hope in the last few chapters he'll get around to it. I'm curious as to why you think Shinichi will help do it, since of all the main characters he seems the most skeptical of the relationship in my eyes. At the end of every Eri-centric case he always thinks something ( ... )

Some Suggestions on How You Can Alleviate Your Kogoro/Eri Fic Deprivation ran_dezvous May 5 2011, 16:15:42 UTC
Hey, there! Pardon the shortness of this comment, but I have some suggestions on how you can alleviate your Kogoro/Eri fic deprivation:

1. I'm offering fics for the Lightning Round of the help_japan community (this is different from the one mentioned in my author's note to my fic), so if you have $2.99 to spare (the price of one Help Japan v-gift), feel free to request them! Just like my last offer, I'm accepting all requests! My thread can be found here. Hurry, though, the Lightning Round ends on Sunday at 4 P.M., GMT!

2. I'm also doing the same for Round One at helpthesouth, if you prefer to help that cause. (Feel free to help both, though.) My thread can be found here. Auction ends on the 25th at 6 P.M., CST.

3. help_japan also has a requests post, where you can leave a comment containing your request! Who knows, somebody aside from me would grant your request! You can take as many fic offers as you wish. helpthesouth also has one, which you can find here.

4. If you're strapped for cash, I know a couple of people on my f-list, ammchan and candy__chan, who have permanent requests posts on ( ... )

. . . because my comment was too lengthy for the LJ comment box. *sweatdrops*

ZOMG, you're not dead alive! And you still remember me! I'm so happy~ ♥ I'm a bit sad that you've fallen off the Conan train, though, especially since the latest files have been very exciting (read: plot related). Nevertheless, I am ecstatic that you are still very much a Kogoro/Eri fan! Though I generally support the canon pairings in the series, they're the only pairing I ever really care about.

Yes, she is; I really admire her a lot. ♥ Speaking of which, here's the Eri-centric fic I was telling you about last time!

It's not just fanfiction, there's a lack of fanwork for them in general, sigh. Oh well, at least, some of the movies and anime originals have Kogoro/Eri fanservice. ♥ (Have you watched the Courtroom Confrontation episodes? I highly recommend them; too bad they're not technically canon, as are the movies.) Thinking about that makes me realize that, compared to Makoto/Sonoko and the other less popular canon pairings, we aren't in that bad a ( ... )

But yes, Kogoro must have been especially romantic during his younger years; how else could he have managed to marry Eri at such a young age unless he had gotten her pregnant, which is very much possible, with the both of them still in college? It really makes me wonder just how on earth Eri managed to juggle her family responsibilities and still be a lawyer by the age of 27. I must say, though, that it's rather ironic that the amount of time it took for them to progress from dating to engagement to marriage is inversely proportional to the amount of time Kogoro's taking to woo Eri back. I have a term for this, actually: "anti-parallel." If Kogoro's fear of losing Eri to her Harvard scholarship was what drove him to finally realize and confess his feelings for her 20 years ago, then why did he allow their separation to occur? Why is he only actively-which really isn't all that active-trying to get her back more than 10 years after the fact? Does Eri have any regrets giving up her scholarship, or getting married at such an early age? ( ... )

This was adorable! Love your portrayal of Eri and Yukiko, especially when it comes to Eri shoving expensive cookies in her mouth. Thanks also for using the word "punctilious"~ Kogorou is so clumsy with romance, I could definitely see this happening. Yukiko makes a great interpreter here! Great job!
