Next one of you who fires off a gun because of a snake is gonna get knocked out. S'just a bloody rattler.

[There's a hiss of pain there, sharp and insistent. Whatever the matter is, it's certainly putting a vicious toll on her tone.]

... I haven't got enough medical training for this. Anyone know how t'remove a bullet without tearin' the wound even

Removing the bullet would actually only cause you to bleed out at a faster rate and is ill-advised unless it is causing serious complications. And frankly, the only real complications would be a punctured lung or other internal organ, in which case I doubt you'd be coherent enough to make this call. Thus, the first order of business is to disinfect the wound and staunch the bleeding.

[That, would be the sound of a head hitting something solid. Like the side of a wagon or something similar.]

No, s'not in an immediately dangerous area. Just my leg. Which I need to walk- you don't mean I have to leave it in, do you? [Oh, right.] Near the furthest West fire pit.

It would be advisable. Generally, removing the bullet only introduces dangerous bacteria and succeeds in tearing up what little flesh the bullet did not harm. Of course, it would be easier to assess the severity of your wound if we had proper medical equipment, but as far as I know, this wagon train is lacking. Alcohol, bandages and pressure are perhaps the best we can do.

[And he'll just. Scoot over to that furthest West fire pit. He's got the aforementioned alcohol and bandaging tucked under one arm and his journal under another, the last two free to wave her down.]

[Welp. She'll be there, backed up against one of the farther wagons, leg propped forward and vaguely tourniquet-ed with her belt wrapped 'round her upper thigh. She'll catch the wave and motion him over.]

H-how long's the bullet gonna stay in then? We can't just leave in there.

Where did it hit, ma'am? [...He doesn't like her, but someone injured should at least be assessed. He's no doctor, certainly not, but a Navy man knows a thing or two about bullet wounds.]

Bit 'bove my knee. [Not like her? Scandal! She's perfectly likable; Chadd is just a stick in the mud.]

We don't have a proper surgeon, but bind it up properly and it will be fine. Exercise the joint to make sure it keeps being able to bend.

Rose? Please tell me you weren't shot anywhere vital.

Or in your arse.

Not exactly life threateningly vital, no. S'a bit close to my knee for comfort, though.
