[The zombies almost seem more aggressive now. He has to be stuck with the people who want to help others, but had to get injured. Fine, fine... he's on his way.]

[Ken's backed up against a dry goods store, trying to clear a path and make a break for the door. He'd knocked a zombie to the ground, but it's reaching up to grab his leg.]
Ggk--!!
[Trying to kick it off now, while hitting it on the head with the shovel. He hates this. He hates senseless fighting, and these still look almost human.]

[Soon enough, an ax comes cutting through a zombie's head. That zombie Ken's kicking at? Shinjiro opts to stepping on its head with a firm slam from his boot. Excuse his jacket's torn appearance; he needs to get it mended later]
Can't say a shovel is a sufficient weapon against these. More upper body strength, maybe it would work...
[It takes Ken a moment to respond, first catching his breath and then actually having to take stock of potential injuries. You were - he wishes he'd come that equipped. Whatever world you're from has prepared you well.
Finally, he shakes his head.]
Nothing serious. I'm - fine.
[He's scratched up, though. And his leg's started bleeding a little.]
[Takato had been cautious enough to stay with the wagons, but when he sees the situation he immediately forgets his own worries as all of his instincts urge him to go running after Ken. Even though he had no idea how to find the other child and even if he did find him there was nothing that he could do.]
[He grimaces as his shovel connects with the side of a zombie's head. Without a Digimon, Takato's probably as helpless as he is--
Ken's not the stoic person he used to be, thinking he had to do everything alone, trying not to care about his own well-being. He treasures himself. But he treasures others too, and can't watch another helpless kid - with parents and friends and a Digimon waiting for him - fall into this same situation because of him.]

He nods dumbly, grateful.]
Thank you.
[A sheepish glance at the shovel.] It was - all I had near me.

And a second gets a metal boot to the face.
Hi, Ken, meet Blues.]
Need some help?
[He's as snarky as always.]

Thank you...
[All the same, he'll keep holding the shovel like a weapon, ready to do his share if any more arrive.]

Once sure there aren't any more around, at least not in the immediate area, Blues turns to him. He's... probably not much taller than Ken, if at all.]
Are you hurt?

Don't come! I'll find a way back.

[Maybe he couldn't fight like he could before, but there was no way Takato was willing to stay safe when another kid was in danger.]

[That hesitation's probably enough to explain the situation.
After that, there's some more scuffling sounds, and Ken bites back a shout.]
