Dear ITV

Can I completely ignore the events of season 3 of Primeval, and pretend only seasons 1&2 happened?

Let me see if I've got this right:
  • Someone thinks Becker is a good replacement for Stephen
  • Helen is even more crazy and meglomaniacal than we thought
  • Connor and Abby seem to share a closet.
  • Cutter dying was definitely not a plan.
  • Only to replace him with ( Read more... )

wtf?, primeval

Apparently Douglas Henshall (Nick) wanted to leave the show and that was tragedy enough. Lucy Brown (Jenny/Claudia) was a shock. James Murray (Stephen) - I cannot figure out if he was written out as per canon or if he asked to be - unfortunately he and his wife lost their baby girl soon after to a heart ailment.

Season One is still my favourite - I love the golf course episode. I think I've watched it over 50 times.

And now on top of it all the show has been cancelled. :(

We're still trying to work out what TFWIC were doing with it.
DH must have decided to go between series, we think and that left TFWIC with a patch-up job. Becker was planned - and is decorative at least. Danny's a lot of fun, but you have to grit your teeth past his super-hero attributes.

It's a mess. Not all of which is down to TFWIC. But a lot of it is.

So far, nothing beats S1.

Amen! I think it's because I was first convinced to watch the show because of Douglas Henshall, that I'm having the biggest problem. Plus, Jenny leaving was really just the topper. She'd grown so much, just to have her pull the "hey, I'm done now, TTYN" was just unbelievable.

Up to ep five is my series 3, despite Cutter dying, because at least it was like Primeval, and it fitted together. After that - well, I call that series 4 :-) Though I'm completely denying Ep 7 ever existed.

Danny would have worked far better if they'd left off the Superman tendencies. I liked Sarah, thought she was underused, and Becker was all right too, really. The problem was with Cutter's absence - obviously unavoidable, because Dougie, blast him, wanted to bail, but they flubbed the aftermath of his death. Not in the eps straight after, which I thought weren't badly done (except mushroom man was bonkers) but in forgetting that only a couple of eps previously the whole bloody show revolved around Cutter . Acting as if that wasn't the case, and shoe-horning Danny in the way they did, made a mockery of the previous two years of story and character development ( ... )

I'm debating how (or if) I'll recap the season. (Primeval didn't get a lot of votes when I suggested recapping it on my new blog.) I'd do one to 3 properly, combine 4&5 and then the whole rest of the season in one large one.

I think we should make "up a tree" and internet meme. Whenever someone does something so unabashedly, and unintentionally ridiculous, we all shake our heads and say he/she/it is up a tree. While they didn't intend for it to be the end, it is, so they deserve some mockery for it.
