What Games Should I Rent?

Jun 05, 2010 05:45

Thanks to a survey rewards program, I received three coupons, each valid for one free game rental that works out to one free rental per month for three consecutive months from Blockbuster (I figure I might as well make use of this while they're still around).

I own a Nintendo DS Lite.

I have access to a Wii.

No More Heroes 2, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Monster Hunter Tri, Red Steel 2, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, Excite Truck/Excitebots: Trick Racing, Punch-Out!!, Ghostbusters, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, TMNT: Smash Up, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (if you've not played the Cube version, and maybe even then), and Wario Land: Shake It!! immediately spring to mind for Wii. Also enjoying Sonic and the Black Knight, though I put that aside just for Galaxy 2.

DS is a bit trickier. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is good, Mega Man Zero Collection will be out soon, there's all that Pokey-man stuff, the entire Ace Attorney series (Investigations came out not too long ago)... Zelda: Spirit Tracks, perhaps?

Hard to say, really, without knowing what you have and haven't played, but those are what immediately spring to mind.

Unsure if it's been mentioned before, but Super Paper Mario is a fine and dandy game that you can definitely beat on a rental so long as you're okay with possibly skimping on the freaking Caves of Trials. Which can make you say naughty words sometimes.

Pretty much anything Mario is a good idea. If you don't mind incredibly over-the-top violence with plenty of swears, MadWorld is an enjoyably goofy choice, and any of the DS Castlevanias are a good playchoice so long as you don't mind potentially not beating them unless you opt not to sleep.

All this and the new Punch-Out!! has catchy music!

For the Wii: Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Wario Land: Shake It! Both have some really really awesome visuals and shouldn't take you very long to beat during a rental period.

For DS: Uh... I think everyone mentioned all of the ones I'd recommend except for probably Chrono Trigger (one of the new bonus dungeons sucks, but the other one is not too bad, and I actually like the new translation) and Kirby Super Star. Oh, and Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, although that will most likely be a couple of rentals. :)
