Satoshi Kon, the man behind Paranoia Agent, Paprika, Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers as well as several other works died of pancreatic cancer on August 24. These are his touching, sublime and hear-wrenching final words. He was 46.

I can never forget the first words out of my mother's mouth when she saw me lying there.
"I'm so sorry, for not bringing you into this world with a stronger body!"
