Essays on friendship

It's been a really weird month or so for me when it comes to the topic of friendship. It is as if as I'm getting older both the concept and the execution seem to be evolving. As if the institution of friendship is somehow becoming less profound, or perhaps simply more superficial, I suppose it would depend how you looked at it ( Read more... )

None of us are trying to cut ties with any of you. I would love to see any and all of you, but no one ever suggests anything. I say we stop talking about it and start hanging out again. I don't understand why you guys keep thinking that we don't want to hang out with you. Maybe if you suggested things to do when you have free time we could all do something? I would love to just get a bunch of girls together, make drinks and watch movies. There's my suggestion. I just hope you know that we do still want to hang out with you!!!!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I find myself hanging out with people who aren't roommates (even them!) less and less. I think it's partly because I am taking a full load this semester. This may not seem like much to some (all) of you, but this is twice the amount of credits I'm used to. This cuts down my daytime hours, which are few to begin with because I'm usually up all night anyway.

I don't think I've changed. I have the same philosiphy I've always had when it comes to friends and other people: I'm content with being by myself and am not a very vocal person when it comes to making plans, but will always drop my solo "plans" for something that involves hanging out with my friends. Granted, sometimes I feel like just being by myself some nights, and at the other end of the spectrum, I yearn for companionship as well (but it's a lot harder to call someone up at 2AM and say, "let's hit up Walmart or Wendy's or go watch a movie" when you don't know if they're asleep).

P.S. hey I havent seen you in a while we need to hang
