If it fits in the glove compartment of a car, it's not a dog.

And now for something completely different and kind of gross:

An Oregon circuit court has made the news in the ABA Journal. Judge Bailey has ruled in favor of a woman who has a 77-pound Dachshund, in a suit against her by Oregon Dachshund Rescue (which apparently is a thing). Poor pup. :(

Honestly, though, this rescue organization is wasting huge amounts of money fighting to gain custody of a single dog that is apparently doing well (and his health is improving) in the home he currently has. One has to wonder whether they are looking to eke out their own fifteen minutes on the back of a "celebrity" animal, or if they have just lost their collective minds. They could have used those funds to save numerous dogs from actual abusive and dangerous situations.

This is a very good point. Though you have to wonder - they're not even a dog rescue organization, they're a dachshund rescue organization specifically. (All those setters, labradors, and pit bulls can suck it, I guess.) You have to wonder how much work they get.

You'd be surprised. There are a lot of single-breed rescue groups, and they always seem to have more than enough work to go around. Small breeds are especially vulnerable to abuse, hoarding and mill breeding. That is why this is so perplexing, because surely they have better things to do than to snipe over a dog that is already getting the care it needs.

Stephen was especially pleased to hear this news, because it appears that the Dachshund rescue organization was represented by a professor he'd had in law school. Who he disliked. Because the guy misstated the law, apparently. So I guess it shouldn't be too surprising then that he lost.
