California here we come, right back where we started from

The weather has improved immensely in Portland of late, but I still have traumatic memories of a road trip to California from Portland ten years ago - in the height of summer, natch - when we got stuck on

Isn't I-5 always pretty clear? I mean, it is the major highway down the coast... surely they wouldn't let it become impassable.

That being said, I've never been to California, so I don't know a damned thing. Also, I-5 is boring as hell, and not particularly scenic. How did you go last time?

Apparently I don't remember. But I also don't know exactly where it is we're going this time, which obviously makes a difference.

I'm in kind of a weird mood tonight, but for some reason this is striking me as the funniest thing I've ever read.

This happened twice - once in the summer. Don't you remember the episode with the snow chains and the weasel in the glove compartment?

I read this post, and I had to do a double-take because I thought you removed me from friends or something. I stared at the date of the entry for a while.

It's so strange seeing Jess and Katie here. Not that they know who I am.

No, I've not done any such thing. I just haven't been writing much.

And I'd imagine that they can figure out who you are, if they don't know already.

Their wikipedia page says that they're from Los Angeles, but it's hard to believe the band didn't write that song about Portlanders =P ("If only for the weather"?)

I trust you're right, but I may still buy snow chains, just in case =P
