One of my other LJ friends often posts things in a foreign language. While I know its *HIS* journal, I also take the time to read his journal regularly. When I come to a piece written in a foreign language, I feel that he is pointedly excluding all the readers who cannot translate.

Even though I know that foreign jokes do not often translate well, including a translation shows your readers. *ALL* your readers that your care about *ALL* their sensibilities......

Well.. I can't translate everything, but my week over in Denmark can translate this much.

You said the first part says, "today we had sex"....

I think the next part says, "at the Samleiet Inn (hotel) for 5000 kroner (which is about $800...there's 625 Kroner to $100).

As for the rest of it.. I'm not sure.

well, Samleiet means sex, so it's the "inn 5000 kr. til bot og 25 til bedring " that's getting me. if my dictionary wasn't packed up, i'd look up "bot" and "bedring"...damn tiny vocabulary!

Roughly; "Today we've had sex ('samleiet' really isn't a word, it's just some made-up verb form for 'intercourse', and it's supposed to be an allusion to "collected", as "samlet" is the Norwegian word for collected) 5000 Norwegian crowns (our currency) for [ticket or punishment] and 25 for correction! "Bot og bedring" is an old expression, and can't really be translated into English - but it's about correcting things, making it up to someone.

Tricky wordplay for someone who doesn't speak Norwegian!
