[Hello, Vatheon! Say hi to Yomiel, who is currently hanging around GrubMart, looking through the various things they have for sale. He turns on the SFC, looking as if he is mentally deliberating something.]
I've noticed for a while that there are computers out and about in some of the shops...I have a question. Does anyone actually use them? ( Read more... )

so bored over here, filtering to my own madness, brb bothering terezi, give me some work, totally not going to hack your servers, best computer programmer ever

[[...what does he mean "what these are?" That should be a fairly obvious fact. Perhaps he hasn't read up on sylladices enough to know the terminology. She's yet to consider the possibility that people who aren't from their world don't have sylladices.]]

That's a captchalogue card. It's used to store and recall artifacts, and is kept within the captchalogue deck of one's sylladex.

[[She simply nods and turns off the SFC, and in fifteen minutes time is strolling into Grubmart. Perhaps a little less, but who here has a watch?]]

On the walk here, I've come to realize we've yet to introduce ourselves. I'm Rose.

[Upon sight of Rose, Yomiel gives a two-fingered salute, smirking all the while.]

Nice to meet you, Rose. Name's Yomiel.

It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well. Now.

[[Straight to business with this girl. She moves to a shelf of various books, browsing through them.]]

I would suggest choosing a Modus before bothering with the sylladex. It would be best to have one in mind, as it will make it easier to acclimate to knowing what you are dealing with ahead of time.

A Modus, huh?

[Yomiel thinks about that for second.]

I don't think I have any preferences as to what kind...but something that makes it easy to access items would be better for me than one you'd have to spend a lot of time on.

Hm.

[[Pulling the book she was looking for from the shelf - one on Data Structures - she flips through it idly in thought, glancing at each of the pages as she goes.]]

Array might be one you'd find appealing then. The only difficulty in it is that you would need to memorize which card holds the item you seek, as far as I know...

That's not a problem for me.

[He leans on one of the shelves behind him, smirking.]

I'm a computer programmer- memorizing where things are is in my nature.

Then that would be my suggestion. Along with perhaps studying data structures for yourself.

[[Offering you the big orange book here.]]

As far as I'm aware, all modi are based on data structures. Though I don't know very many myself, so I suppose I'm not the expert on that fact.

[[Now to find the modus in question and gather a few cards to start with.]]

Oh, thanks.

[Yay, reading! Though it looks pretty big. Oh well, it'll keep him not feeling bored about anything, at least.]

That sounds good to me. I work with data structures and code, so learning how the modi work shouldn't be too hard, I hope.

I would imagine not.

[[Retrieving the modus she's searching for, she offers that to Yomiel as well.]]

This is the fetch modus card. Your Array card. On the back contains options for this specific modus, but we can approach those later. Or you're free to fiddle with them yourself as well. I don't know much about the options of Array myself, so I likely won't be of much help.

[Yomiel takes it and looks it over before glancing back at her.]

So these can be customizable? Interesting. I'll have to mess with it a bit whe I get the chance.

To an extent, yes. My modus is only able to be transferred from root to leaf mode, which changes how I store and fetch artifacts, as well as allows me to have it auto-balance what I do captchalogue or not. Along with that, you will need a handful of captchacards.

Oddly, and unfortunately, I have yet to be able to equip more than ten...they simply captchalogue like normal artifacts when I try to equip anymore. I have a feeling that is likely the fault of Vatheon.

Okay...and they're right over here.

[He finds a shelf full of them and takes several of them before turning to her.]

Yeah, they say that the coral limits our powers. So, I guessing they limit the power of the sylladex, too. It makes sense.

Likely, yes. And it does indeed.

[[Okay. The last component. The sylladex itself, and how exactly to equip it to him. She's had hers for so long, it's a little hard to remember how to do it...]]

Let's pay for these, and then move outside. It may be easier to work with it all there, in a wider space, while you adjust to it.

Um, sure.

[He dumps the pile of stuff on the counter of the cashier and hands over his Starfish Token card to pay for it. After getting it all into a bag, he exits the shop, holding the door open for her on the way.]

Why a wider space? Does the inventory even take up physical space at all?

It does, but it is mostly so that if you manage to eject an item from it, it won't end up breaking anything within the shop that we wouldn't want to pay for.

[[Following and thanking him for holding the door open, she glances at the bag of items.]]

Now. First we'll need to equip the sylladex. And then we'll be able to allocate both your Fetch Modus and captchacards.

[[Speaking of allocating, she pauses a beat.]]

The Strife Deck can come later, I suppose. I had forgotten about that.
