You used to admire him? Why not continue to admire him? Did he say he condoned invading Iraq? I think the point he made was that the only logical reason to invade Iraq would be to secure a source of a rare commodity, and claiming some sort of idealogical goal was an obvious smoke screen to dupe fools. Did he say that it was ethical, reasonable, or a wise decision in his interview?

Well he doesn't come right out and say that the Iraq qar was a good idea, but from the interview that was the impression I got.

He did condone invading Iraq. He brought it up in the book said it was about oil yet did not say it was a bad idea.

Personally, I always thought it was about oil. The stuff is liquid energy, and energy is what futures are made of.

If the Gov'mint came to you and said "We're going to go and jack someone up 1/2 way across the planet for crude oil, we produce quite a bit locally here but the hippies are getting uppity about where we drill so we need Iraq's, you good with that?" would you sign on for that?

Im not sure that I would, but by the same token, I am not sure that I wouldnt. I understand need. And I understand the position of many people who do not want to destroy natural resources to get natural resources. I'd really rather put the money into releasing the stranglehold oil has over us.

I guess the big question is, can you, as an individual, handle your government lying to you and if you feel you need to be lied to. There are things that I really dont feel I NEED to know, but if I start asking, give me the benefit of the doubt that I've considered what the answer might be and I have prepared myself for it.

To answer your first question. That would be a resounding no.

To answer your second question. I can not handle the government lying to me and I can't handle it abusing it's power.
